What is Mole Mapping?
Mole mapping is a detailed way of recording and monitoring all of the moles on your body. It involves creating a complete photographic map of your skin to document the exact location, size, and shape of each mole. Alongside this, close-up, high-resolution images are taken of any individual moles that may be of concern.
At ProDerm, we use DermEngine, an advanced AI-powered system, to capture and analyse these images. This technology makes it easy for our dermatologists to identify even the smallest changes in your moles over time.
You will also receive your own digital copy of the images, which means you can continue to monitor your skin safely and effectively from home.
Why is Mole mapping important?
Mole mapping allows your consultant dermatologist to identify any changing lesions on your skin using AI to compare with previous images. This allows precancerous or atypical moles to be flagged for surgical removal, hopefully before they’ve had a chance to evolve into malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. You are provided with a summary of the mole map, including all of your images which makes self-monitoring much easier.
