Skin cancer
I’m a lady in my late 50s and have worked outdoors as a farmer for most of my life. I noticed a dark freckle appearing on my right cheek which I was ignoring for a while, but which started to get bigger. Eventually, I went to see a dermatologist and I found Dr Friedmann.
He examined my face using a handheld microscope and told me he was concerned that the lesion might be evolving into skin cancer. Consequently, he undertook surgery to remove the lesion and within only a few days we had the pathology results confirming an early skin cancer called melanoma in situ.
I was told that with skin cancers of this nature a wide local surgical excision was required and this was undertaken again by Dr Friedmann the following week. It was great news to learn that the re-excision confirmed that the cancer was fully removed. I had been very worried about the size of the scar I would have but was amazed to see how nicely the wound has healed and now you almost can’t tell that I had a skin cancer removed.
I just wanted to say a really big thanks to Dr Friedmann and his team of amazing nurses and staff. Thanks to him, my cancer is cured! I’m very pleased to go back for full skin check with Dr Friedmann every three months.
Acne
My name is Marco and I am a 32-year-old man. Recently I got into bodybuilding and found myself taking testosterone supplements which really helped my muscle development. However, I developed terrible cystic acne on my face chest and back.
In desperation I sought out a dermatologist and met Dr Friedmann who diagnosed me with nodulocystic acne caused by my testosterone use . He started me on a strong medication for acne called isotretinoin. He took plenty of time to discuss all the side-effects because I had heard that it can cause depression and low mood, but I didn’t get any mental health problems.
I was a bit skeptical as the drug didn’t appear to be working at first and it gave me very dry lips, but by the end of my six month course, my acne was completely clear and my self-esteem restored. Without Dr Friedmann‘s intervention, I may have had permanent scarring from my acne and I am very grateful for his excellent care and expertise.
psoriasis
My name is Zhen and I am a 45-year-old woman who moved over from China for a job in the UK. I have had psoriasis for most of my life but it had started to become very severe whilst I was in England. The condition was completely covering my arms, legs and torso, so I went to see Dr Friedmann as I was desperate for some improvement
After examining my skin, Dr Friedmann talked about all the potential treatments available for psoriasis. He very quickly realised how severe my condition was and suggested we try a modern drug called a biologic. This was given as an injection every three months.
Quite honestly, I could not believe how incredible the effect was and within only four weeks my skin was 100% clear of psoriasis. I got no side-effects at all from the medication and have now been on it for two years with completely clear skin. I was very impressed by Dr Friedmann‘s empathy and understanding of my condition, but most of all, I’m delighted to feel like a normal person again and have complete control of my skin.
eczema
My name is Lewis and I am an 18-year-old student who has always been troubled by atopic eczema. The condition wasn’t too bad when I was younger but over the last couple of years had become really terrible covering about 50% of my body and arms and causing me great distress with the itch.
I’d already seen my GP and an NHS dermatologist but none of the creams or tablets they had given me made any difference so I ended up booking in to see Dr Friedmann. He was able to discuss treatments with me that were not easily available on the national health service, at least not without a very long delay. After taking a few blood tests, he started me on a new drug called a Janus kinase inhibitor.
The results were amazing as within only four weeks my itching had settled right down and the eczema had cleared almost completely. I was able to go on a two month expedition to the far east and my eczema didn’t bother me at all. I’m so grateful to Dr Friedmann and his team for having given me back my quality of life. I remain on these medications without any side-effects and I’m super happy.
Alopecia
I am a 53-year-old woman and I developed alopecia areata which caused all of the hair to fall out on my head, including eyelashes and eyebrows. Naturally I was completely devastated by this and in desperation tried as many doctors as possible. Eventually I met Dr Friedmann and he very quickly started me on a new medication for alopecia areata.
I had been told by other doctors that there wasn’t any treatment available, but within only two or three months I noticed fine hair starting to grow on my head and my eyelashes returning. By the end of the year I had complete regrowth of my hair and I no longer needed to use a wig.
Now, five years later, I have thick luxurious hair, even better than it was beforehand. My life has been revolutionised by this new treatment and I thank Dr Friedmann for having started me on it. I am so pleased with the result that I want everybody to know all about it!
